Deregulation, privatisation and tax cuts contributed strongly to creating the financial and economic crisis. How do we prevent a crisis like this from happening again? The answer is strict regulation of financial capital, massive investments in infrastructure, renewable egergy and public services, and a radical redistribution of wealth from the top to the bottom in society. This session looks at the actions of previous governments to determine the effects and risks of using public sector cuts as a response to reduced government revenues.
This session will explore the effects of the recent Government cutbacks in Alberta. What public services have been hardest hit? What effect has this reduction in services and staff had on Albertans and public sector workers?
Alberta is technically out of recession but the effects are still being felt across the province.
This session will explore ways of budgeting that are proactive and invest in Alberta's future as an alternative to the current reactive methods being used by the Government.
How investing in government programs and services can benefit Alberta socially and economically.
Tying it all together and where we go from here.
