Marguerite Mendell

Marguerite Mendell Fluent in English, French and Hungarian, Margie Mendell heads the Concordia research team on the social economy within a multi-university (Concordia, Université du Québec à Montréal, Université du Québec à Chicoutimi, and Université du Québec à Hull) partnership with over 30 Quebec community-based organizations, unions and coalitions.This vast, collaborative initiative is supported by the Community-University Research Alliances (CURA) program of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). As well, Margie is co-researcher with another SSHRC-funded initiative: Réseau féministe pour un renouvellement des théories et des pratiques économiques et politiques (Feminist network for a renewal of economic and political theories and practices). This initiative is a collaborative effort of feminist researchers of universities across Quebec, with Quebec women’s organizations. Margie is President of the Board of the Montreal Community Loan Association, as well as a member of the board of directors of the Corporation de développement économique communitaire (CDEC) - Côte-des-Neiges / Notre Dame de Grace, and of the Léa Roback Foundation. Margie Mendell’s teaching and research areas include; Comparative Public Policy History of Economic Thought Political Economy of Eastern Europe Comparative Community Economic Development Alternative Investment Strategies Economic Democracy The Social Economy
