Alan Sears came to Ryerson University after teaching at the University of Windsor for 18 years. He works in the areas of theory, sexuality and labour studies.

Alvin Finkel | Professor

Alvin Finkel is professor of History at Athabasca University, where he has taught since 1978. He is president of the Canadian Committee on Labour History and served for 11 years as book review editor for Labour/Le Travail.

Trevor Harrison | University of Lethbridge, Director of the Parkland Institute

Trevor Harrison is currently a professor at the University of Lethbridge, and Director of the Parkland Institute. He is the editor of The Return of the Trojan Horse, an anthology of reportage and essays that re-examine Klein's Alberta after a decade of deficit-slashing, tax-cutting conservatism. He is also the author of Passionate Intensity: Right-Wing Populism and the Reform Party of Canada and Requiem for a Lightweight: Stockwell Day and Image Politics.

Jennifer Kelly | Professor

Jennifer Kelly is a professor in the Department of Educational Policy Studies in the Faculty of Education, University of Alberta. Her areas of research are racialization, identity and community. She recently co-produced with Ground Zero Productions a play entitled West Indian Diary which was based on her research with folks who came to Edmonton from the Caribbean in the 1960s and early 1970s. She is a member of the Alberta Labour History Institute.

Joan Sangster | Professor

Joan Sangster teaches History and Gender and Women's Studies, including courses on Canadian Women's History and Working-Class History, at Trent University.

Leo Panitch | Professor

Leo Victor Panitch is the Senior Canada Research Chair in Comparative Political Economy and Distinguished Research Professor of Political Science at York University. He is currently completing a major book with Sam Gindin entitled The Making of Global Capitalism: The Political Economy of American Empire, which will be published by Verso in 2012.

Gil McGowan | President of the Alberta Federation of Labour

Gil McGowan was elected President of the Alberta Federation of Labour in 2005, following 10 years working as Communications Director for the AFL.

Paul Moist | National president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees

Paul Moist is national president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE). An ardent advocate for public services, Moist has led CUPE to the forefront in the fight against privatization.

Richard Wilkinson | Professor and author

Professor Emeritus of Social Epidemiology at the University of Nottingham Medical School, Honorary Professor at UCL and a Visiting Professor at the University of York. Richard co-wrote The Spirit Level with Kate Pickett and is a co-founder of The Equality Trust

Stephanie Bloomingdale | Secretary-Treasurer for the WI State AFL-CIO

Elected the first women Secretary-Treasurer for the WI State AFL-CIO. She has more than 20 years of experience in labor as an organizer, negotiator, trainer, and activist.

Teresa Healy | Senior Researcher at the Canadian Labour Congress

Currently, Teresa is involved in ongoing research on Canadian Communities in Crisis, North American integration, as well as health care privatization. Teresa Healy’s book, Gendered Struggles against Globalisation in Mexico was published by Ashgate Publishing in 2008

Walden Bello | author, academic, and political analyst

Professor of sociology and public administration at the University of the Philippines Diliman, as well as executive director of Focus on the Global South. Bello also currently sits as a member of Congress in the Philippines' House of Representatives where he serves as the political party Akbayan's second nominee.
